The Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences has just formed a vibrant research group in Operations Research and Statistics. We are seeking an ambitious early career researcher to join this group and to support its activities.  The University of Adelaide already has a strong international reputation in probability theory, applied probability, stochastic modelling, network analysis, financial mathematics, heuristic optimisation, biostatistics and statistical genomics. Recent appointments in multivariate high-dimensional data analysis and non-linear time series have enhanced its strength in statistical modelling. Your research interests should align with, or complement, existing research activities in the school.

Position Requirements

You should have:

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent in an area of applied probability, stochastic modelling, optimization, statistics or a related field.  Candidates who are nearing completion of their Ph.D. are also acceptable. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated record of research achievements, as evidenced by journal publications and/or conference papers (in an area of applied probability, stochastic modelling, optimization, statistics or a related field) and the potential to further develop a good publication record.
  • Ability to work independently.

Salary

(Level A) $51,260 – $69,563 per annum. A minimum of $64,805 per annum is payable to the holder of a PhD.

Superannuation

An employer superannuation contribution of 9% applies.

Term of Position

This fixed-term position is available immediately for a period of 12 months. A further extension of up to 2 years may be possible, contingent on funding.
