The School of Mathematical Sciences is internationally known for its research in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics and is one of eight Schools within the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. We are responsible for teaching the degree programs Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences and the Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences as well as providing high quality service teaching into other degree programs offered by the University.  The School is seeking outstanding individuals to fill two fixed term contract positions that have become available as a result of the School’s recent success in securing two prestigious Australian Research Council Future Fellowships, awarded to Dr Thomas Leistner and Associate Professor Zudi Lu.

Position Requirements

You should have:

  • a PhD or equivalent in an area of Pure Mathematics
  • a strong record of research achievements as evidenced by high quality publications in pure mathematics
  • the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
  • the ability to teach effectively at all levels, including lecturing large classes
  • some preference may be given to individuals with research interests in differential geometry, preferably Lorentzian or semi-Riemannian geometry.

Salary: Will be on the appropriate level of the University salary scales.
