The Centre for the Subatomic Structure of Matter (CSSM) at the University of Adelaide invites applications for two positions as a Research Associate in theoretical nuclear, particle and astro-particle physics.

The successful candidates will have a strong research record in theoretical physics with expertise in one or more of the following areas:  QCD; hadron structure; chiral effective theories; deep-inelastic scattering including GPDs and TMD; the equation of state of dense matter; neutron stars; physics of the LHC and physics beyond the Standard Model.

Position Requirements

You should have:

  • a PhD (or thesis submitted) or equivalent degree in theoretical physics
  • a commitment to research excellence in theoretical nuclear and particle physics
  • demonstrated publication track record in leading scientific journals and conferences
  • advanced analytical and computational skills
  • demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in addition to working effectively as a member of a research team.

Salary

Salary: (Level A) $68,751—73,800 per annum.

Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% applies.

Term of Position

These two fixed-term positions are available initially for a two year period, with the possibility of a further one year extension.  Position may be filled at a mutually satisfactory date..
