The Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics (ACPFG) is part of the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine and is based at the Waite Campus of the University of Adelaide. Research undertaken by the ACPFG is dedicated to identifying genes controlling adaptation to environmental stress such as drought, salinity and frost in cereal crops. We are seeking to appoint a Post Doctoral Fellow to work on an ARC funded linkage project to improve drought tolerance in wheat plants. The project aims to improve drought tolerance in wheat plants under stress conditions, and also to use protein structure/function and biotechnology tools for manipulations of the expression of the stress response genes under drought.

Position Requirements

You should have:

  • PhD in biochemistry, protein chemistry, molecular biology or related disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in working with protein structure/function and in using biotechnology tools in silico, in vitro and in vivo
  • Experience with experimental design and ability to work with challenging technologies
  • Excellent protein modelling and chemistry, and biotechnology skills.

Salary

Salary: (Level A) $68,751 - $73,800 per annum.

Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% applies.

This fixed-term, full-time position is available immediately until June 2013.
