Elizabeth Koch OAM
Elizabeth Koch, Head of Woodwind and Senior Lecturer in Flute at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2006 for service to music education as a teacher of flute and as a mentor to young musicians. Ms Koch has been awarded in the 2007 Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning by the Carrick Institute. [read more]

The School’s computational cognitive science group is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to contribute to a project focused on problems of inductive inference.

The research project investigates how different assumptions about the nature and origin of data lead to different inferences, both in a normative sense and in human behaviour. From a modelling perspective the project is interested in developing Bayesian models of human induction,
and in understanding how these relate to more traditional psychological models.

Position Requirements

You should have:

  • PhD in cognitive science, psychology, computer science,
    statistics, or other related discipline
  • Experience in implementing and interpreting probabilistic models
    (i.e., Bayesian modelling, MCMC techniques).

Salary

Salary: (Level A)  $70,814 - $76,014 per annum.  The successful applicant will be appointed at an appropriate level depending on qualifications and relevant experience.

Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 9% applies.

Term of Position

This fixed-term position is available from 1 July 2012 for an initial period of 1 year with a further renewable period of 1 year.
