Exam papers policy
Under the University of Adelaide Examination question papers policy, implemented by the Library in Semester 2, 2002, all exam papers must be deposited with the Library. Electronic format is preferred.
University policy
The University's Records Disposal Schedule no: 2001/01, effective 9 May 2001 - 30 June 2011, gives the University Library responsibility for retaining permanently a master set of examination question papers (item no. 2.2.4 of the schedule).
The full schedule is available from the University Policies website.
Prior to this, up until Semester 1, 1999, the University examinations office provided paper sets of examination papers to the Library and these were made available to students as well as retained for archival purposes in Special Collections.
Library policy
Paper copies will be permanently retained in Special Collections for archival purposes until such time as the Library is confident that the electronic format is suitable for archiving.
Electronic copies in .pdf format will be made available for seven years through the Library Catalogue, unless embargoed by the Department. The exam papers will be accessible only to University of Adelaide students and staff, who will be subject to authentication.
Procedure
The Library's Digital Resources Management Centre will digitise past exam papers and put them on the Library's server.
Research and Branch librarians will keep their Departments informed of the University and Library policy that all exam papers must be deposited with the Library.
Electronic format is preferred for deposit; the order of preference for file formats is:
- Adobe Acrobat .pdf file
- MS Word file
- pdf file
- Paper copy
Departments should indicate if an exam paper is not to be made available to students.
A guide, How to find exam papers, is available to help our users to find exam papers.
