Who may request items from the Joint Store ?
Anyone may ask for a Joint Store (URRSA) item to be paged from the Joint Store to any of the University of Adelaide Libraries.
Registered members of the University of Adelaide community should use the Request facility on the Library Catalogue to ask for a book or a whole volume of a journal to be paged from the Joint Store.
Members of the University of Adelaide community can also request an individual article from a journal in the Joint Store - use the Document delivery Request form for a copy of the article to be delivered to your computer desktop.
If you are not a student or staff member of the University of Adelaide you can ask for a book or a whole volume of a journal (but not a journal article) to be paged from the Joint Store by filling in a Joint Store Request card.

Requesting items using a Request card
If you are not a student or staff member of the University of Adelaide you will need to use a Joint Store (URRSA) Request card to ask for books and journal volumes to be paged for you.
Joint Store (URRSA) Request cards are freely available from a box at the end of the Loans desk or you can ask for one (or more!) at the Information desk.
Fill in the details on the card and hand it in at the Barr Smith Library Loans desk (or at the Information desk if there's a long queue at Loans).
In the branch libraries, hand in the Request card and collect the item at the Library desk.
You can check what book and journal volume Requests you have pending, and their progress, through the MyLibrary function on the Library Catalogue.
(Note: If you request a journal article through the online Request form it will be delivered to your computer desktop within one or two days. If you have not received your article after three days, please let us know by telephoning 8303 3348).
As soon as you submit your Request you will be able to see it in MyLibrary under the Request information: Requests Pending heading. The Joint Store book Request above will look like this in MyLibrary:

The Status box will change according to how far through the paging process your Request has gone. As soon as the book is ready for you to collect, the record will move from the heading Request information: Requests Pending to Request information: Items Available.

When can I collect the requested item?
If you lodge your Request before 12.00 noon on Monday to Friday, and you nominate either the Barr Smith Library or the Waite Campus Library as your Pick up location, the item will usually be available for you to pick up from the Barr Smith Library Loans desk or the Waite Campus Library desk after 3.30pm the same day. Requests lodged after 12.00 noon will be available for collection after 3.30pm on the following weekday.
If you lodge your Request before 12.00 noon, and you nominate the Law, Elder Music or Roseworthy Library as your Pick up location, your Request will be available for collection after 3.30pm on the following weekday.
We'll send you an email message telling you that the item is available, or you can check MyLibrary to see if your Request has been filled.
Items paged for you will be held for for seven days before being returned to the Joint Store.
Why can't I ?
Sometimes the system will not let you place a Request on a Joint item. You may see an error message such as:
- 'You have no requests available on this database'
or
- 'You may not have entered your barcode and name correctly'
If you are having problems placing a Request, please ask the staff at the Barr Smith Library Loans desk (or at your Branch Library) to help you. They can determine the reason why you cannot place the Request, and may be able to place the Request for you.
Common reasons why you can't place a Joint Store Request:
- You are suspended from borrowing because you have accrued 60 or more demerit points for late return of books from loan
- Your University ID Card has been reported lost
- Your address on the University database is incorrect
- You have not paid a Library invoice
- You are a reciprocal borrower from the University of South Australia or from Flinders University (you will need to fill in a Joint Store Request card)
- The book is on the Hold shelf waiting to be collected, following a Request by another user (Status = On Hold)
- The item doesn't have a Joint Store (URRSA) Location
