S.A. Mental Health ServicesContents : How to making a request, (electronic or paper) Copyright, Books,Photocopies,Theses IntroductionDocument Supply to Mental Health Service staff is provided by Document Delivery staff at the Barr Smith Library of the University of Adelaide. The library has an excellent collection in psychology and psychiatry and mental health services and includes material from the Hugh Birch Library (Glenside Hospital) collection. Mental Health Service staff also have access to many full text journals from any computer with an Internet connection. All requests are handled by the SA Mental Health Service Library officer who supplies material from our library. If the item is not held the request is transferred to Interlibrary Loan staff who obtain material from Australia or anywhere in the world to satisfy your research needs. We endeavor to supply in a two day turnaround for requests that are available from our collection and Interlibrary requests take a little longer (usually: copies within 7 days and books 2 weeks). Material is supplied to Mental Health Service staff at no cost to the individual although the costs are covered by the service agreement. General informationThe fuller and more accurate the details provided, the greater the speed and ease with which the request can be processed. Please give journal titles exactly as cited, and also give the precise source of your reference, since this will help with locating the material. Requests for the provision of photocopies can be processed only when the declaration required by the Copyright Act has been completed. This declaration must be signed by the end user of the photocopied article and not by a research assistant or other member of staff. The copyright signature must be in ink and must not be photocopied. You must fill in a separate form for each article. BooksMost libraries in Australia willingly lend books from their collections for use in other libraries. Any conditions laid down by the lending library must be strictly observed, for example, that the book be used only in the borrowing library. Please ensure that the book is returned in time for its return to the lending library by the due date. Renewals are not normally granted on loans of books on interlibrary loan. If you require one chapter, or up to ten percent of a book (whichever is greater), a photocopy may be requested. PhotocopiesPhotocopies of articles from journals are obtained subject to the provisions of the Copyright Act. Briefly stated, the provisions of the Act restrict copying to one article from an issue of a journal, or two or more articles where they relate to the same subject. Please ask the Document Delivery Supervisor if you require more articles than the Copyright Act 1968 permits. ThesesInterlibrary Loan of theses are normally not available and so arrangements must be made to purchase a copy. This may be either as a library book order, using your credit card to buy a copy (around AU$65-100) , or asking Interlibrary Loans to purchase on your behalf. If the thesis is in the Dissertations Abstracts International database you can order direct from UMI. Please contact Maureen Bell to discuss your research alternatives.
