Staff and Students based in Hospitals

The University of Adelaide, Barr Smith Library provides Document Delivery to registered staff and students based at Teaching Hospitals (excluding RAH) for their research and study.

Make a request
Use an Electronic Request form.
Check the Library catalogue first to decide if you need an item held at a University of Adelaide Library location.

If the item is held at the University of Adelaide Library make an:

· Intercampus request - Books from the Barr Smith Library (BSL) and Joint Store collections.
· Intercampus request - Photocopies of journal articles or sections of books from BSL.

If the item is not in the Library catalogue:

· Interlibrary Request for supply of items from other libraries in Australia & overseas.

We will send you an email copy of your request as confirmation of receipt.

You can cut and paste catalogue or database citations into the notes box on the form.

Each request / article must be on a separate electronic request form. This is due to Copyright as well as work procedures.

To receive this service you must select a hospital location in the "If required, I can collect the item from:" drop down box on the request form.

We deliver
Books will be delivered to Teaching Hospital libraries by the Library courier. Articles can be supplied to you via the web, email, or personal fax. If you prefer we can deliver your articles to the teaching hospital libraries by courier. Check at the hospital library 2-3 days after making your request to pick up your material.

Returning books
You can return books on loan to you through the hospital library.

How much will this cost?
Books from the Barr Smith Library and Joint Library Store are free.

For services with charges you will be invoiced quarterly rather than the normal requirement for prepayment.

Photocopying
$2.20 per 20 pages or part thereof.
Additional charge of $2.20 per item for fax delivery to an STD location.

Interlibrary Requests.
Charges for items available in Australia usually cost $13.20 check the web page for further details.

Students on placement out of Adelaide
If you are out of town (where the contact phone number has a prefix other than 82 83 or 84) you are eligible for the Remote Student Library Service. As well as the services listed above we offer additional services and contact details for remote students.
