Interlibrary requestsContents:
Books, journal articles and other items needed for teaching and research that are not held by the University of Adelaide Library, nor readily available for purchase, may often be obtained through the Interlibrary request service. Contact
Who may use the service? The Interlibrary request service is available to faculty staff, postgraduate and honours students. Library titles in offsite storage are unavailable and undergraduate students may place Interlibrary requests to obtain articles from these journals. We will supply 50 standard requests per person per calendar year. Non standard requests (cost > $25) require provision of an account code for full cost recovery. ILL staff will contact you if your request falls into this category. Note that fast track/rush requests ($26.40) and overseas book loan costs ($44) exceed $25 and that account codes will be required to make these requests. Alumni and Community members of the Library may also use the Interlibrary request service by paying by cash in advance. Standard rate requests only will be accepted: books $13.20, articles $13.20 for 1-50 pages; $3.30 for each additional pages (or part thereof). Please ask for details at Service Enquiries or at the Library desk in the branch libraries. Making a requestInterlibrary requests should be made by using the electronic request form. BooksMost libraries in Australia and overseas will lend books from their collections for use in other libraries. Any conditions laid down by the lending library must be strictly observed, for example, that the book be used only in the borrowing library. Requested items may be picked up from Barr Smith Library Service Enquiries on Level 3. At the Waite Library and at the Roseworthy Campus Library, please ask at the Library desk. Please ensure that the book is returned to Service Enquiries, or to the Library desk at the Branch libraries, in time for its return to the lending library by the due date. Renewals are not normally granted on loans of books from another library. ArticlesArticles from journals are obtained subject to the provisions of the Copyright Act 1968. Briefly stated, the Act restricts copying to one article from an issue of a journal, or two or more articles where they relate to the same subject. Please ask the Interlibrary Requests Supervisor, or your Branch Librarian, if you require more articles than the Copyright Act permits. ThesesMost university libraries will not lend copies of their theses and so arrangements must be made to buy a copy. Purchase of a thesis requires authorisation from your Research Librarian. Purchased theses will remain the proprty of the library and will be added to the library collection. How long will it take ?
Cash refundsIf a request cannot be fulfilled please bring in the notification and your receipt to the Library where you originally paid -- a refund will be given if cash has been paid in advance. |
