Interlibrary requestsContents:
Books, journal articles and other items needed for teaching and research that are not held by the University of Adelaide Library, nor readily available for purchase, may often be obtained through the Interlibrary request service. Contact
Who may use the service?Academic and professional staff, affiliated clients, and students of the University of Adelaide may request items that they require in connection with the research and teaching functions of the University, through the Interlibrary request service. Alumni and Community members of the Library and other approved users may also use the Interlibrary request service; please ask for details at Service Enquiries, or at the Library desk in the branch libraries. Making a requestInterlibrary requests should be made by using the electronic request form. The fuller and more accurate the details provided, the greater the speed and ease with which the request can be processed. Please give journal titles exactly as cited, and also give the precise source of your reference; this will help with checking if additional details are required. Requested items may be picked up from Barr Smith Library Service Enquiries on Level 3. At the Waite Library and at the Roseworthy Campus Library, please ask at the Library desk. BooksMost libraries in Australia and overseas will lend books from their collections for use in other libraries. Any conditions laid down by the lending library must be strictly observed, for example, that the book be used only in the borrowing library.
Please ensure that the book is returned to Service Enquiries, or to the Library desk at the Branch libraries, in time for its return to the lending library by the due date. Renewals are not normally granted on loans of books from another library. PhotocopiesPhotocopies of articles from journals are obtained subject to the provisions of the Copyright Act 1968. Briefly stated, the Act restricts copying to one article from an issue of a journal, or two or more articles where they relate to the same subject. Please ask the Interlibrary Requests Supervisor, or your Branch Librarian, if you require more articles than the Copyright Act permits. Theses
Most university libraries will not lend copies of their theses and so arrangements must be made to buy a copy. This may be done as a Library book order, by using your credit card, or by asking the Interlibrary request service to buy a copy on your behalf. More information about theses is on the Theses: how to find them page. How long will it take ?
Costs [including GST]
PaymentPayment may be made by cash in advance or may be charged to the Library or a Departmental fund by means of a requisition number or a Departmental account code.
