Electronic resources

The Library has a large and constantly growing collection of resources such as electronic databases and indexes, e-journals, e-texts, exam papers, and so on, that are available online. These e-resources are are all available through the University of Adelaide Library Catalogue.

If you are looking for a resource that you know is an online one, you can change the Limit: box on the Catalogue search page to Electronic Resources before you search the Catalogue.

Who may access e-resources ?

Because of licensing conditions, the catalogue system will require authorisation, in the form of a current University of Adelaide ID and password, to connect to most e-resources. There are publicly-available terminals behind the Information desk in the Barr Smith Library that allow free access to most of our e-resources. Remote access to e-resources from outside the University network is not possible without a University of Adelaide ID and password.

Log out

It is important to log out from Library computers whenever you finish using them, especially when you have been using e-resources.
When you link to resources outside the University network such as electronic databases and indexes, e-journals, e-texts, and websites, the access is normally charged to your student Internet allocation. If you have used a web-based resource and do not log out, subsequent web resource use by another student will be charged to your allocation. See the University's SNAP (Student Net Access Plan) page for details.

Remote access to e-resources

University of Adelaide students and staff who have a current University ID Card can access e-resources from outside the University network. Information on how to do this is on the Remote access help page.
