Australasian Wildlife Management Society The objectives of the Society are: to promote the study and application of scientific wildlife management: to provide opportunities for discussion and the dissemination of information among members by appropriate means such as meetings, workshops, and publications.

Australian Fauna The Australian Fauna website was created in February, 2004. Their goal and aim is provide genuine quality information about ALL types of Australian Fauna.  It provides a number of fact sheets on Australian fauna.

Australian Mammal Society The Australian Mammal Society (AMS) is an interdisciplinary society of biologists whose common interest is in the biology and conservation of Australian mammals. Research by members of the Society spans a wide variety of biological disciplines including behavioural and community ecology, population genetics, management and conservation. The goal of  the Society is to contribute to the greater understanding of the Australasian mammalian fauna.

Australian Registry of Wildlife Health The Registry of Wildlife Health was founded at Taronga Zoo in 1985 and has since grown into a diagnostic and resource centre. The Registry focuses on detecting and diagnosing endemic, emerging and exotic diseases of wildlife that could have impacts on Australia’s trade/economy, biodiversity, tourism and human healt

Birds Australia Birds Australia (the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union) was founded in 1901 and works to conserve native birds and biodiversity in Australasia and Antarctica, through the study and management of birds and their habitats, and the education and involvement of the community.

DEH Wildlife trade and conservation   Includes listings of approved native species for trade. Also includes statisitical information regarding kangaroo and wallaby harvesting and quotas along with conditions that must be met when exporting live Kangaroos or Koalas

DEH Wild Harvest of Native Animals Includes information regarding Possums in Tasmania, Kangaroo Harvesting

Marsupial Society of Australia The Marsupial Society of Australia Inc. is a small organisation, based in Adelaide, South Australia, dedicated to providing information and education regarding keeping and breeding our native Fauna in captivity. Although the Society does not rescue individual animals, it provides support and guidance to those who do. The Society was formed in 1981, and we have been publishing a monthly Journal / Newsletter ever since. This means that we have a vast information resource that can now be more readily accessible to the world via the internet.

Taronga Conservation Society Links to Taronga Zoo, Western Plains Zoo and the Taronga Conservation Society Australia.

Threatened species network Working with the community to stop plants and animals from disappearing is what the Threatened Species Network (TSN) is all about. TSN is a partnership between WWF-Australia and the Australian Government.  Includes fact sheets on some species and "The Web" newsletter produced quarterly by WWF-Australia's Threatened Species Network, providing updates on threatened species projects and activities happening around Australia.

Australian Fauna Care This National facility is home to the most comprehensive list of wildlife care groups in Australia.

Australian Wildlife Health Centre Established at the Victorian Healesville Sanctuary

Australian Wildlife Hospital Established at Australia Zoo in Queensland the Australian Wildlife Hospital and Rescue Unit collects sick, injured and orphaned koalas and other wildlife, and provides care and rehabilitation in a state-of-the-art facility before releasing them back into the wild

Fauna Rescue South Australia A volunteer non profit organisation established in South Australia, caring for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in thier own homes.

Northern Tablelands Wildlife Carers - Wildlife Carers are a network of trained volunteers licensed by NSW National Parks and wildlife Service.  They rescue rehabilitate and release injured, sick orphaned and unwanted native fauna.

Ozark OZARK is the Australian Wildlife Carer's Network. It is a vital communication link enabling wildlife carers from a wide range of areas and experience, to learn from one another, to discuss pertinent issues and to be part of a non-political supportive community of fellow wildlife workers and carers. Resources on the Ozark website are checked by vets or known authorities in the field before being presented on the site.

Wildlife Victoria

Wires (NSW) The NSW Wildlife Information and Rescue Service (WIRES) is the largest wildlife rescue organisation in Australia.  Established in 1985, WIRES has established a network of hundreds of volunteer who rescue, rehabilitate and release sick, injured or orphaned native animals. Each year they receive over 100,000 phone calls and rescue over 56,000 native animals from injured bluetongues to orphaned wombats. WIRES is a non-profit, non-political charity with branches operating across NSW. Over 90 per cent of  funding comes from public donations. Each year they also receive a small grant from the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and the NSW Department of Agriculture.

National parks and wildlife services

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services
Includes park management plans, fire strategy plans as well as native animal fact sheets and conservation information.

Northern Territory Natural Resources Environment and the Arts Includes Media Releases and information about Parks and Wildlife in the NT.  Also ncludes listings of threatened species along with fact sheets about the species along with some wildlife management programs.

Australian Koala Foundation A general information site but also includes information on distribution, taxonomy, diet and a listing of preferred eucalypts.

Koala Research On these pages you will find a a large body of information about koalas - particularly the Queensland koala. If you are interested in the diet of koalas, how they breed, interact or in fact any general koala information, you will probably find it here.
