Section 6. Manage and organise your references

Referencing

You must acknowledge all the information sources you have used in an assignment. Failure to do this is known as plagiarism.

For more information on referencing, refer to the Library's Academic writing and referencing style guides

Referencing styles

At the end of your assignment, you should list in a bibliography the books, articles and web sites you have consulted.
Most courses recommend a particular layout or citation style. There are print and web guides to
essay writing and citation styles

Also, remember the useful Written communication in the agricultural and natural resource sciences by Margaret Cargill and Melindy Bellotti
which also cover referencing styles. These guidelines are written specifically for students undertaking
study and research at the Waite and Roseworthy campuses. (To access this electronic resource
you will be asked for your University of Adelaide ID and password)

Manage your references

Consider using reference (or bibliographic) management software such as EndNote to manage your references.
