Databases for Civil, Environmental & Mining Engineering

These commercial lists of articles from journals, papers given at conferences, chapters in books, patents, research reports and theses, are available to staff and students, through links from the Library's Catalogue, where the Library pays a subscription to the publisher.
You will be asked to authenticate your status as a member of the University with your acount name and password.

To find journal articles on a topic use one or more of the databases listed below.
Remember - these databases are international in coverage; the Barr Smith Library does not provide acess to all of the articles listed.  If you need an item that we don't have, use our Document Delivery Service.

Searching
Use the same search strategy as for the Library Catalogue when you search by Keyword (use and, or, not, " ") You can develop your search strategy in the Library Catalogue [Searching by Keyword (use and, or, not, " ")] and copy and paste into the search bar in each of the databases.

For most aspects of civil engineering use -

Ei Compendex
1884-
The international coverage for all aspects of engineering from journals articles, conference papers, research reports; any language; from any country.

Select Expert Search from the search option buttons, then paste in a search strategy by Keyword (use and, or, not, " ") from the Library Catalogue or create your own keyword search in the Expert Search box.

CEDB: Civil Engineering DataBase 1973-
Lists all material published by the ASCE; with links to the full text of journal articles where the Barr Smith Library has a subscription to the journal.

The result list displays the 100 most recent titles; to view the rest of the results, amend your search strategy by choosing a date range or adding more search words.
