Virtual Libraries and SBIGs


There are a number of SBIGs, subject-based internet guides, which attempt to monitor sites for usefulness in particular subjects. Most of these sites are free, although you may have to check the Library Catalogue if

Scirus
From the Engineering Village search screen, in the left-hand column, pull down to More Search Sources and click on Scirus to search links to a range of sites of value to engineers.  Scirus claims to retrive results from all science and science-related sites on the Worldwide Web

EnviroNET Australia
Maintained by the Federal government's Department of Heritage and the Environment.  Provides a network of sites giving information on industry expertise, environmental technologies, research and development, hazardous wastes.

<>With a European emphasis are
TechXtra
A searchable catalogue of reviews and links to quality engineering Web sites.  In many cases the text may be freely available, otherwise check the Library Catalogue to see if we provide access to the full text.
