: connecting to databases
EndNote allows direct connection to library catalogues and databases which are compliant with the Z39.50 protocol. The databases can be searched using the EndNote search interface, and records taken directly into an EndNote database.
Note: The Library does not recommend this method of searching because EndNote's search capabilities are not equal to those of databases. Instead you should search the database directly, save the records, and then import them into EndNote. See Importing records - filters.
If you wish to use this method of searching for the databases below:
- Download the database's connection file and save the file to your EndNote Connections folder.
- When you run the Connect search in EndNote, choose the connection file you have downloaded.
| Database | Download connection file |
| Library Catalogue |
Download Mac: U_of_Adelaide.enz Download Win: AUVoyager.enz
|
| PubMed |
Use the connection file provided with the EndNote program. If you are using an older version of EndNote, you may need to check the PubMed News Alert on the EndNote web site. |
| Other databases |
Some connection files are provided with the EndNote software. Those for free databases should work. Those for databases to which we subscribe will not. In such cases, search the original database and import results into EndNote - see Importing records - filters. |
