: Importing references from databases

The results of database searches can usually be transferred automatically into EndNote.

1. Direct export - see EndNote tutorial.

Some databases allow an easy direct export from a database search to an EndNote library. In the database look for Export to bibliographic software, Direct export, or similar. EndNote must be installed on your computer.

2. Importing using filters - see EndNote tutorial.

If direct export is not possible, you can import a saved search into your EndNote library using an EndNote filter.

First, save search results in the format that EndNote recognises. See instructions against each database below.
Then import using the correct EndNote import filter for your database. EndNote already has filters for many databases. Otherwise, download one from the table below to the System (C:)>Program Files>EndNote>Filters directory.
