Importing records from PubMed
1. With the standard PubMed_(NLM) filter
First save your results in PubMed.
- At your PubMed search results, change the display to MEDLINE.
- Choose Send to File and save as a .txt file.
Then in EndNote import the saved results into a temporary EndNote library using the PubMed_(NLM) filter. Check and copy to your main EndNlote library. If necessary, the filter can be downloaded from EndNote: importing records to your EndNote filters directory.
2. Or with the alternative PubMedwithURL filter
If you want your EndNote records to include a link to the PubMed record's URL, use this alternative filter and make some global changes to records.
- Download the PubMedwithURL filter from the import filters page to your EndNote filters folder.
- Save your results in PubMed as above.
- Using the PubMedwithURL filter, import your PubMed search result into a temporary EndNote library.
- Make sure the temporary EndNote library contains only the imported PubMed records. The PubMed accession number appears in the URL field in these records. You will add a prefix to change it to a PubMed URL.
- Use Change Fields on the References menu.
Choose In: URL as the field.
Choose Insert before field's text.
Copy into the text box the prefix URL: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&dopt=Citation&list_uids=
Unmark Include a space after the new text. OK.
- Copy the records to your main library.
