Unit 4.3 Print or export a separate bibliography
Sometimes you need to print or save a file of your EndNote library references as a stand-alone bibliography independently of any document you are writing. For example, you might want to share the references with a colleague who doesn't use EndNote.
- In EndNote, select the references you want to print or export. Choose REFERENCES > SHOW SELECTED REFERENCES to display those references only.
- The output style is shown on the toolbar. Use its drop down box to change it to an output style of your choice. Note:
Show All shows all fields as they appear in the EndNote library.
Annotated shows a reference and abstracts.
Choose Select Another Style if the style you want does not appear as a choice.
If you want the references sorted in a particular order, you may need to edit the output style.
- To print the list: from the FILE menu select PRINT and OK.
- To export the list to a Word or text file: from the FILE menu select EXPORT.
Enter a file name of your choice.
For a Word file, choose the .rtf format which preserves the style (italics etc).
Click Save. Open the saved file in Word.
You can also create a subject bibliography which lists items under subject headings. See the EndNote manual for instructions.
For short bibliographies, the EDIT > COPY FORMATTED command lets you quickly copy and paste a group of references into a Word document in the style selected for the EndNote preview window.
