How to find thesesUniversity of AdelaideThe Library generally receives a copy of all University of Adelaide Masters and Ph.D. theses. Law theses are kept in the Law Library; and agricultural science theses are held at the Waite and Roseworthy campus libraries. Check the location on the catalogue record or in Summon. Many earlier theses are stored in the Joint Store (URRSA). You can request that a thesis held in Joint Store be transferred to your campus library (use the Requests option in the Libray catalogue). The Library does not receive copies of all University of Adelaide Honours theses. If the specific thesis you are looking for is not held in the Library then check with the relevant department for that discipline. Honours theses may be kept in the department, although there is no requirement to do so. If you're looking for a digital copy of a thesis, try the University's Digital Theses website. Print theses held by the Library are searchable via Summon. To search for theses on a particular subject, include thesis and adelaide as keywords. For example, to find geography theses you could try adelaide thesis geograph* To locate a specific thesis degree try adding either ph.d (doctorate) or hons (honours), as a keyword. For example, adelaide thesis english hons. Ask your research librarian for assistance for limiting a search by Masters degree for your discipline. Thesis call numbers (e.g. 090PH, 090S.M, etc.) are shelved before 091 in the Barr Smith Main Collection (Level 1 South). AustraliaTheses from other Australian universities are not usually held in the University of Adelaide Library, but may be purchased if required for research purposes. To request that a thesis be purchased for the Library see your Research or Branch Librarian. Trove (National Library of Australia) can be used for locating Australian theses. Search using keywords, with thesis being one of them. Print indexes may be required to discover Australian theses prior to 1985 as some may not be listed on Trove.
