- Encyclopédie de Diderot et d'Alembert
- The Library has a CD-ROM version of Diderot and d'Alembert's Encyclopédie, ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des métiers et des arts. Written between 1751 and 1772, this version includes all seventeen volumes of text and eleven volumes of plates that comprised the first edition. The Encyclopédie may be searched by headword, author, classification of knowledge, or part of speech.

The University of Michigan has made available an English translation of articles from the Encyclopédie.

Print encyclopædias
To see what printed versions of encyclopædias we have in the Barr Smith Library, choose the Subject Heading search option on the Library Catalogue and type in Encyclopedias and dictionaries, French.
For example, we have paper copies of the 10-volume Encyclopédie Larousse, the 16 volumes of Diderot and d'Alembert's Encyclopédie, third edition, 1770-75, and the 20-volume Encyclopaedia universalis.
