guide is designed to help you find for
yourself some books and articles that will assist you in writing your second essay.
Some resources are electronic, which you can access from anywhere. Printed (hardcopy) books will need to be followed up in the library, using call numbers.
If books are in high demand, using the REQUEST button will shorten the loan period to one week and help to share the resources around. Journal articles are also a good alternative when books are hard to borrow.

Our office is on level 2, in the wedge between the 800's and the 900's.
Reference collection is on level 2 north, in the foyer outside the Barr Smith Reading Room.
It is a good idea to read broadly at first, to get the "big picture", using books from your essay reading lists or subject searches found via the catalogue. You may also want to verify definitions of concepts using reference works.
The SUMMON seach box on the lilbrary's home page will find you a large number of books and journal articles, some of which will be ful ltext online.

PRIMARY SOURCES
Primary sources are documents written at the time
of the
event.
They include letters, newspapers, cartoons,
parliamentary papers,
memoirs (personal narratives), treaties and other documents.
The two
simplest
ways to locate them are:
via the catalogue, adding to your subject heading search any of the following terms: sources, or diaries or personal narratives or memory OR via specialised websites, where documents on a
particular
