SUMMON AND THE CATALOGUE
The Summon search box on the library'as home page will search across online and print articles and books.
It is good for quick searches but sometimes yields too many results and lacks the refinement of subject searching in the catalogue or a database.
Its subject terms are different from the catalogue's subject headings or the terms used in Historical Abstracrs with full text.
It is a good way to go straight to a specific journal article with a minimum of clicks....eg this citation from your reading list:
Hatcher, John. “England in the Aftermath of the Black Death.” Past and Present 144 (1994): 3-35
can be found by typing into the Summon search box:
john hatcher black death aftermath
For more specific searching use the library catalogue.
The Barr Smith Library has very extensive collections on this period of European

Early English Books, which an be requested.
Early English Books (EEBO) can also be accessed via the National Library of Australia's Electronic Resources, but you need to register first.

On this site there are introductions to Summers' rather inaccurate translations published in 1928 and 1948, and links to certain notes and references cited. The eventual aim is to provide links to all the references. This site is extremely useful for those seeking information about the work, or quotations, but it must be remembered that the accuracy of Summers' translations has been the subject of doubt. Whilst it is worth using for an overall view of the work, it should be used with caution and definitely checked against a copy of the Latin original. The summation and introduction reflect many stereotypical beliefs about the witchcraft persecution, which have been disproved by recent scholarship.
