CATALOGUE TIPS
It is very important to search the catalogue thoroughly for your
topic.
Much of the Russian material in the catalogue still has Soviet
Union in the subject headings but we are slowly moving toward these
standard terms:
Russia for pre-1917
Soviet Union for 1917-1991
The best advice is to try a variety of options just to be sure.
Use the catalogue's Guided Keyword Search option to search for
"any of these"
Russia? Soviet
and
the other terms you are interested in eg women, peasant? etc
To find primary sources add search terms such as
"sources", diaries", "personal narratives",
"correspondence".
