- Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research
- CILT was established in Britain in 1966 as an independent charitable trust supported by central government grants, with the aim of collecting and disseminating information on all aspects of modern languages and the teaching of modern languages.
CILT's prime objectives are to promote a greater national capability in languages and to support the work of all those concerned with language teaching and learning.
- SIL Language learning
- The purpose of SIL International (formerly known as the Summer Institute of Linguistics) is to work with language communities worldwide to facilitate language-based development through research, translation, and literacy.

- Modern Language Resource Center
- Based at Carnegie Mellon University, there are links to resources on languages, including Chinese, French, ESL, etc.
- Association for Language Learning (ALL)
- The Association for Language Learning (ALL) was founded in 1990 through the amalgamation of seven UK associations of language teachers, and is the major subject association for those involved in teaching modern foreign languages (MFL) at all levels and in all languages. The main focus of ALL is the teaching of languages other than English.
- International Association for Language Learning Technology (IALLT)
- IALLT is a professional organization whose members provide leadership in the development, integration, evaluation and management of instructional technology for the teaching and learning of language, literature and culture.
- Happy Fun Communication Land
- A rather infelicitous title for a site which offers self-study opportunities for students of communication theory. Take tutorials on topics such as The communication process; Self and society; Signs and language.
Includes a useful glossary of terms and an extensive bibliography.
