Literature search: how to find material on the web for media topics

To find specific information on media topics on the web you need to use a search engine. However, try not to be fooled by the ease with which a search engine produces thousands of results as a result of your typing in some search words.
I urge you to read through my page Searching the Web effectively before you start. There you'll find important information on Simple search techniques followed by a section on Advanced search techniques. These are essential preliminary reading for serious web searchers.

When you are searching the web for material that you intend to use in an academic environment it is crucial that you know how to judge the worth of the pages you find. It is imperative that you read the Evaluating your results section of my Search engines page before you begin your search.

When you are ready to start using search engines to find material on your topic you'll find that I've identified what seem to me to be the best of them on my Search engines page. It will open in a separate window.
