The website of The Committee to Protect Journalists. CPJ is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1981 to promote press freedom worldwide by defending the rights of journalists to report the news without fear of reprisal.

International Press Institute
IPI, the global network of editors, media executives and leading journalists, is dedicated to the furtherance and safeguarding of press freedom, the protection of freedom of opinion and expression, the promotion of the free flow of news and information.

Australian Press Council: Activities in support of free speech
In its role as a defender of press freedom, the Council scrutinises legislation, court decisions and any activities of politicians, courts, newspaper proprietors and others that might threaten press freedom.
