Demerit Points

Fair sharing is the basis on which the Library operates. Demerit points are allocated when items are not returned by the due date, at a rate of 2 points per day (or part of a day) except for items borrowed from the Reserve Collection where demerit points accumulate at the rate of 4 per hour (or part of an hour). Accumulation of sixty demerit points results in withdrawal of borrowing privileges for fifteen days. The number of demerit points can be checked using the MyLibrary option on the computer catalogue. Further details about the demerit points scheme are available here. Enquiries about demerit points should be directed to staff t the Barr Smith Library Services desk (immediately to the left of the Loans desk on level 3, telephone 8303 5124)
