Behavior OnLine: The Mental
Health and Behavioral Science Meeting Place
This site aspires to be "the premier World Wide Web gathering place
for mental health professionals and applied behavioral
scientists.." It has a number of interesting discussion groups in
which well known authorities in their field participate. For
example there is a discussion group on EMDR (Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing) in which Francine Shapiro
participates.

Health On the Net
Foundation
The Health On the Net Foundation (HON), created in 1995, is a
not-for-profit International Swiss Organization. HON's mission is
to guide lay persons or non-medical users and medical
practitioners to useful and reliable online medical and health
information. It has sophisticated search interfaces to allow access
to a wide range of quality health material. Although it is a
general health site I've included it here, as it includes an
extensive range of mental health resources.
Historic Asylums
(of America)
This is an amazing site for those of you with an interest in
history. The page bears the subtitle "America's Vanishing Historic
Asylums, State Hospitals, Sanitariums, County Homes, Medical
hospitals, and Other Institutions" and represents an attempt to
catalog and present America's historic state hospitals (insane
asylums) founded in the latter half of the 19th century.
Information for
Practice
The stated aim of this site, from the New York University
School of Social Work, is "To help social service professionals
throughout the world conveniently maintain an awareness of news
regarding the profession and emerging scholarship".
Internet Mental
Health
Mental health encyclopaedia for professionals, consumers. Includes
extensive descriptions of the symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments
of the most common mental health disorders, as well as detailed
histories of the most frequently prescribed medications. Online
research articles, information booklets, and book reviews are also
available.
Medscape -
Psychiatry
Medscape - Psychiatry draws on a variety of resources to provide
information on diagnosis, pathophysiology, and treatment of mental
illness. Each day, full-text clinical articles (many offering CME
credit), interactive cases, news reports, and/or literature reviews
profiling issues relevant to primary care physicians and
specialists in mental health are posted. You will need to register
to access clinical articles, news, patient information, and other
Medscape features, but registration is free.
National Electronic Library for
Mental Health
A British site which aims to provide comprehensive, unbiased and
up-to-date content aimed at primary care and mental health
professionals.
Neurolink
Neurolink produce a range of initiatives and practical tools which
have been designed to be utilised in the field by healthcare
professionals involved in depression management, as well as
teaching aids for medical professionals. Neurolink is an
independent educational programme run by a multidisciplinary team
of mental health professionals.
Neurosciences on
the Internet
This site is edited by an American neurologist, Neil A. Busis, from
the University of Pittsburgh Shadyside Medical Center, and contains
a wide range of resources, from journal links and databases to
guides and newsgroups.
PEP Web
This site provides access to PEPLiteratureSearch, a free search of both the PEP(Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing) archive of psychoanalytic literature and the current content of the PEP journals. The Archive contains over 50,000 articles from 1920.

PsychCrawler is a product of the American Psychological Association
created to provide quick access to quality content in the field of
psychology.
Psychwatch.Com
Psychwatch.Com was founded in April 1998 by Fritz Galette and Chris
Nuesell, two graduate psychology students at Fordham University,
presently working on their dissertations. It is intended for
psychiatrists, psychologists, and other related mental health
practitioners, both professionals and students.

Database of Happiness
Described as a "continuous register of scientific research on
subjective appreciation of life" directed by Ruut Veenhoven from
the Erasmus University Rotterdam, this site contains the
Bibliography of Happiness, a collection of over 3,000 scientific
publications accessible by author or subject; the Catalog of
Happiness in Nations, providing responses from over 1,500 national
happiness surveys taken in 93 different countries between 1946 and
1996; the Catalog of Happiness Correlates, which presents the
abstracts of correlational research findings from 662 studies
worldwide; and finally, the Directory of Happiness Investigators,
an international listing of more than 3,300 happiness
researchers.
