Academic Onefile More than 1,500 journals in full text coverage includes physical sciences, technology, medicine, & social sciences. Access for Uni of Adelaide community and walk in users only.

 
Academic Search Premier Has broad coverage of all academic areas. Indexes around 8,200 journals with full text from more than 4,600 of these. Increase the number of citations found by using Subject Terms and keywords in combination. Use in Advanced Search for a better results display. Agricola This file is useful for simple searches. It covers most areas of agriculture and associated disciplines. Compiled by the US National Agricultural Library it was begun in  1970 but has references from as far back as the 16th century. Truncation is assumed. Read the help before searching.

 
AANRO:Australian Agriculture and Natural Resources Online Database Incorporates Australian Bibliography of Agriculture (ABOA), Australian Rural Research in Progress (ARRIP) and Streamline.
  • Agriculture & Natural Resources Covers most aspects of Australian agriculture, and includes books, fact sheets, reports, etc as well as journal articles.From 1975+
  • ANR-Index A bibliogrpahic database on Australian agriculture and natural resources.
  • ANR-Research Archive Archived Australian primary production projects including water and vegetation studies as well as agriculture.
  • Streamline An Australian database on natural resources management. From 1982+

APA-FT  (Formerly APAIS) An Australian database covering mostly social sciences, and scientific topics of public interest. Many of the journals it indexes are not academic, so it should be used with caution. Citations from 1978+ and full text from 1995. Citation only version available here.

Australian science index Print source that's very useful for older Australian material. The index is a bit inconsistent, so check all synonyms. No current information. Copies at BSL, Waite, and Roseworthy libraries.

Bibliography of genetic variation in natural populations Produced byFred Allendorf, from University of Montana This database is big on fish genetics.

Biosis Previews Biological abstracts and Biological abstracts RRM from ISI Web of Knowledge Citations of millions of life sciences journal articles from 1980 to the present. The database contains many citations to medical topics. Access for Uni of Adelaide community and walk in users only. Also in print from 1927 at REF 570.5 B6.

CAB Abstracts This database has information on agriculture and ecology. You can use cabicodes to limit searches to Human Health and Hygiene. Citations are from 1910 to the present. Access for Uni of Adelaide community and walk in users only.

  
Ei Compendex Web (Computerized engineering index) A menu operated web database that covers a wide range of engineering topics. Includes material on environmental engineering, and genetic engineering. 1980+ Access for Uni of Adelaide community and walk in users only.

  
CSIRO index A print source useful for older Australian material. It covers CSIRO published papers, reports, and translations made from foreign journals. At BSL in print Ref 505 A93c. No current information. 1975-1986.

  
Current Contents Connect Covers a wide range of disciplines including Agriculture, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Clinical Medicine, and Life Sciences. ENDANGER: Threatened species in Australia: A select bibliography A database of published and unpublished material on Australian threatened flora and fauna and related topics. ScienceDirect Database of Elsevier journals in full text. Many journals in the areas of medicine and life sciences. Also includes a version of Medline where you can save searches and alerts, but with no explosion available. Access for Uni of Adelaide community and walk in users only.

  
SciFinder Scholar Anything even remotely to do with chemistry is included here. On machine 336 in BSL, or read the instructions for installing the software to use this database on computers outside The Library. Database help. Full searching from 1967 onward, and more limited searching from 1907-1966. Restricted to Uni of Adelaide staff and students.

 

Scopus A huge database of citations covering life sciences, medical sciences, and other science and social science topics. Best for 1996 onwards but some citations go back to the 19th century. It's useful for finding finding citing articles to papers you know about already. Brief guide on searching Scopus.

  

SpringerLink Search the Springer journals by keyword or by menu searches. You can register to set up alerts. Access for Uni of Adelaide community and walk in users only.

  
Streamline (Australia's natural resources database) Included on Engineering & Applied Science and Heritage & Environment disks. Covers all aspects of natural resources management of land, veg. and water in Australia. Water and Climate Bibliography Comprehensive coverage of all aspects of  water.
Academic references pertaining to climate change and freshwater resources. Search by title, author, or from a small number of set "keywords" .

Web of Knowledge The home page for searching ISI Thompson databases to which the Uni of Adelaide subscribes. These include Current contents connect, Web of science and Journal citation reports. Web of knowledge also hosts other databases Biosis Previews, CAB Abstracts, and Zoological Record.

  • Journal Abbreviations The Uni of Adelaide Library catalogue doesn't always find titles if you use abbreviations. It's best to use the full title of the journal.
