Georef and Geobase - the main international databases for geology; Georef is best for recent Australian articles.
AESIS - articles etc on Australian geology for 1976-2001.
SAMREF - reports and articles on South Australian geology.
Web of science - to find articles that have cited given articles.
Journal citation reports - to find impact factors for journals.
Dissertation abstracts and Index to theses - to find North American and British theses; note that Georef also includes theses.
Libraries Australia - to find which Libraries hold a book or journal.
Library catalogue - to find all print and electronic books and journals in or accessible through the Library.
- Check the search methods offered by a database - see its help on:
combination of terms, truncation symbols, limits
email alerts or RSS feeds to notify new articles on a topic
saving files and exporting results to EndNote
links between cited references
- EndNote software to store and manage your references
You can import references from databases, export references to Word files in the citation styles used by journals of your choice, and automatically format bibliographies in your own articles.
- Electronic journals
Search the Library catalogue to find individual journals
or browse a list of geology journals.
- New books
Look at the 550s and 560s sections of the weekly new books list.
- Document delivery - Interlibrary loan, Intercampus loan
If books and journals are not available through the Barr Smith Library, we can get them for you from other Libraries.
- Borrowing from Flinders or Uni of SA
You can use your student or staff card to borrow directly from Flinders and the University of South Australia.
- Australasian digital theses program
Deposit your Masters or PhD thesis electronically.
- Image and Copy Centre
The ICC will print copies of your thesis.
