The following databases are for finding relevant journal articles - choose the one(s) which best suit your topic.

Academic OneFile (Thomson Gale)
[Coverage includes a core collection of peer-reviewed journals in the social sciences and the humanities]

Academic Search Premier (EBSCO)
[Coverage includes a core collection of peer-reviewed journals in the social sciences and the humanities]

Anthropology Plus
[Indexes the literature of anthropology with coverage beginning in the late 19th century]

APA-FT (Australian Public Affairs Information Service) and Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre
[Both these databases index Australian topics, mostly in the humanities and social sciences]

JSTOR
[Date coverage varies depending on individual titles, but overall coverage ranges from the late 19th century onward. Note that JSTOR is primarily an archive of back issues and does not cover current journal literature]

Periodicals index online 
[Coverage varies depending on individual titles. Note that PIO is primarily an index of back issues and does not cover current journal literature]

Sociological Abstracts
[Comprehensive coverage of scholarly journals in sociology, social policy and related disciplines including anthropology & cultural studies]

Web of Science
[Indexes a wide range of journal articles in the sciences, social sciences & humanities. Choose the General Search option to search for journal articles. Choose Cited reference search to find articles that have cited a previously published work]

Film & television literature index 
[Definitive index to film and television literature]

There are more specialised databases which are useful for individual subjects (such as Medical Anthropology) and they are listed in individual subject guides.
