Key Databases

APA-FT (Australian Public Affairs - Full Text) (1978-present)     
Indexes Australian topics, mostly in the humanities and social sciences. Indexes literature on many aspects of development in Asia and the Pacific.
Includes citations (from 1978 onwards) and some full text (from 1995 onwards)

Sociological Abstracts (1952-present)
Comprehensive coverage of scholarly journals in sociology, social policy, and related disciplines including anthropology, development studies and cultural studies
Anthropology Plus (late 19th century-present)
Indexes articles, conference papers, books and web resources on sociology, anthropology, development studies .

JSTOR
Date coverage varies depending on individual titles, but overall coverage ranges from the late 19th century onward. Full-text access to selected scholarly journals in Social Sciences, Education and African and Asian Studies. Note that JSTOR is primarily an archive of back issues and does not cover current journal literature

Web of Science (1980-present)
Indexes a wide range of journal articles in the sciences, social sciences & humanities. Choose the General Search option to search for journal articles. Choose Cited reference search to find articles that have cited a previously published work
CAB Abstracts (1910-presernt)
Abstracts articles, books, conference proceedings and reports in environmental, rural & development studies.
Academic OneFile (1980-present)
Contains more than 12,000 academic journals, the majority peer-reviewed and in full text.

Academic Search Premier
Coverage includes a core collection of peer-reviewed journals in the social sciences and the humanities. Contains indexing and abstracts for more than 8,300 journals, with full text for more than 4,500 of those titles.
Scopus
The largest abstract and citation database. It has the broadest coverage available of scientific, technical, medical and social sciences literature. Cross-searches Sociological Abstracts dating back to 1952.

News Database

Factiva
Full text coverage of Australian newspapers. Includes country and regional profiles. Coverage of individual publications varies widely. Can search by title of particular newspaper - use Source, or search by Region or by Subject.

World Bank Development Indicators.
Australian Bureau of Statisitcs
Freely available. Provides statistics on a wide range of social and economic matters. Census data from 1996-2006.

Indexes all subjects, especially humanities and social sciences, pertaining to East, Southeast, and South Asia.
Business Source Complete (1965-present)
Covers all aspects of business/commerce/economics related subjects. Additional full text, non-journal content, includes financial data, books, conference proceedings, case studies, country reports.
ERIC (Educational Resources Information Centre) (1966-present)
Provides access to bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials. Includes education policy and practice in development contexts.
