Torrens catchment--Some Key Data/Document Sources

History of the Torrens catchment [web access]
[From the Adelaide & Mt Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board]

National Land & Water Resources Audit [web access]
[The Audit plays an important role in working with the Australian Government, and all states and territories, to report on the condition of Australia's land, water and biological resources. On this site you can make maps of various land uses and indicators of catchment “health” (e.g. vegetation cover)]

National Water Quality Guidelines [web access]
[These guidelines have been released by the Natural Resource Management Ministerial Council (NRMMC) for protecting ecosystem health. See, in particular, Ch. 3 Aquatic ecosystems]

Bardsley D.K. and Sweeney S. 2008. A regional climate change decision framework for natural resource management. Department of Water Land and BIodiversity Conservation, Adelaide.

Torrens catchment--Key Organisations

Upper Torrens Land Management Project
[The UTLMP assists landowners with pasture improvement, re-vegetation, fencing and farm forestry]

Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board
[This Board has the responsibility for maintaining the “natural resources” of Torrens and other catchments while ensuring that stakeholders’ interests (e.g. those of farmers) are taken into account. See, in particular, the State of the Region Report]

Torrens catchment--Library Catalogue & Databases

Use the library catalogue to search for books. Keyword searching is probably the best search option, but  remember to incorporate keyword searching techniques such as phrase searching, truncation and Boolean operators. Here are some examples:

Torrens and catchment
"Water quality" and Torrens

Use databases to find journal articles. Choose an appropriate database from the Geography/Environmental Studies databases list.
