Borrowing from the Library by staff and visitors

Library Card

Contracted staff members of the University of Adelaide may obtain a Staff ID Card from the University Card Centre, located in the University Contact Centre. Your ID Card is also your Library Card.

Casual staff who have not been issued with a staff ID card may obtain a card from Service Enquiries at the Barr Smith, Roseworthy or Waite Libraries.

Eligible visitors (Academics, Researchers and Contractors) with access to IT services may also obtain a card from Service Enquiries.

If you lose your Library Card, please report the loss immediately to the University Card Centre (telephone 8313 3363) or to Service Enquiries (telephone 8313 5124) -- you are responsible for all loans made with it.

A Library Card may be used only by the person to whom it was issued.

Returning books

Items on loan must be returned through the 24 hour chutes at the Library entrance.

Loan conditions

Staff may borrow fifty items, including two language kits and two three hour Reserve items at a time.

An item on loan to you may be recalled if it is urgently required by another user. The loan period will be reduced to seven days and you will be notified of the new due date by email.

Renewals

You may renew the loan of a book using MyLibrary or Unified on or before the due date.  A loan may not be renewed if another user is waiting for the book or if you have already renewed it for the maximum number of renewals allowed.

Library notices

All members of the University of Adelaide community have a University email address to which Library notices are sent.  If you have an alternative email account you will need to arrange for the forwarding of messages from your University email address to your other email address.

Handling charge

If an item is kept beyond the date of despatch of the first and final overdue notice requesting its return, an invoice will be sent for the cost of replacement of the item plus a non-refundable handling charge of $30.00 per item.
