Community borrowingA person who is not a member of the University of Adelaide may join the Barr Smith Library as a Community borrower for an annual fee. Contents
CostsPayment of $110 [including GST] entitles you to book borrowing privileges for twelve months. MyLibraryAll registered Community borrowers can use MyLibrary to find out about your loans, Requests and demerit points. What may I borrow ?As a Community borrower you may have on loan up to ten books at a time from the Main collection of the Barr Smith Library. ServicesA range of electronic databases and World Wide Web resources is provided through the public access terminals behind the Barr Smith Library Information desk. Remote access to electronic resources is not possible. Restrictions
Loan periodsBooks from the Main collection may be borrowed for four weeks.
RenewalsYou may renew the loan of a book from MyLibrary on or before the due date.
Returning booksBooks on loan must be returned through the chutes at the Library entrance (or at the Exit desk) so that the loan can be correctly discharged. Demerit pointsFair sharing of materials is the basis on which the Library operates. Demerit points are allocated when items are not returned by the due date. More details about the demerit points scheme are available. Please talk to a staff member at Service Enquiries if you have a question regarding demerit points. Library CardIf you lose your Library Card, report the loss immediately to Service Enquiries (telephone 8303 5124). Any loans made with it before it is reported lost will be your responsibility. Lost Library Cards may be replaced at a cost of $11 [includes GST].
