Library services for Postgraduate students

All postgraduate students have access to the University of Adelaide Library's comprehensive range of resources. Besides the central library, the Barr Smith Library, the Library system comprises, the Law Library and the Elder Music Library on the North Terrace Campus, as well as the Roseworthy Campus Library and the Waite Library.

Research Librarians

There is a specialist Research Librarian for every subject offered by the University of Adelaide. Shortly after you enrol as a postgraduate student you will be notified of the name of the Research Librarian in your field of study. The Research Librarians take part in sessions at the beginning of each semester which are arranged by the University's Adelaide Graduate Centre to introduce new postgraduates to the University of Adelaide. These sessions are an excellent opportunity to get to know your specialist librarian.

It is important to talk to your Research Librarian as early as possible; they can advise you on research matters and on the services and facilities offered by the Library, and will help you with preliminary work to define and refine your thesis topic.
Your Research Librarian will also help you to address important preliminary considerations; for example, we'll show you how to use databases such as ProQuest Dissertations and Theses which will help you to establish the originality of your proposed thesis topic. We'll also alert you to the existence of EndNote, a bibliography program that you can freely download to your own computer, thanks to the University's site licence.
