Australian Financial Review and BRW - loss of online access from 1 April.
From 1st April, Fairfax will remove all AFR and BRW fulltext content
from Factiva, and all other 3rd party databases. For at least the next
few months, the only reliable access the Library will be able to
provide is to its print copies.
In April, Fairfax will provide very limited trial access to AFR and BRW from a beta version of their new electronic product - afr.com Search and Alert service - to a number of Library staff. Contact your Research Librarian for details. A wider trial of the new service may be available in May and June and a subscription version of this new online
service should begin in July. However, we have no information on
pricing of this new product and the Library's ability to subscribe will be dependent on its pricing.
Meanwhile, abstracts/summaries of articles in the last 3 months of AFR and BRW
will be available from the Factiva database from 1 April. In
addition, selective indexing of back issues of AFR and BRW continues to
be available on Informit databases, such as APAIS.
The current week's paper issues of AFR are shelved in the Newspapers section of the International Lounge in the BSL. Older issues in paper, and microform backsets of AFR and BRW, are located in the BSL's Reserve/Multimedia collection.
