Writing Fiction: Working My Way Through the Colour Chart
The Friends of the University of Adelaide Library invite you to a free author event with Carmel Bird on Thursday 29 May 2008 at 6.00 for 6.30pm

Carmel Bird is an Australian novelist, short story writer and literary editor. Her most recent fiction is the collection, The Essential Bird (2006) and the novel, Cape Grimm (2005).
Carmel's earlier works, The Bluebird Cafe (1990), The White Garden (1995) and Red Shoes (1998) were all short-listed for several major awards, including the Miles Franklin Award.
Among the books she has edited are The Stolen Children: Their Stories (1998) and The Penguin Century of Australian Stories (2000).
Carmel Bird has worked as fiction editor at Meanjin and at Australasian Post and has also edited the journals Syllable and Fine Line.
She has also assisted creative writing in Australia with her books Writing the Story of Your Life (2008) and Dear Writer (1998).
Much of Carmel Bird's work concerning workshops and writing courses involves particular aspects of the editing process.
