David Malouf: A Body of Work - The Making of it

The Friends of the University of Adelaide Library invite you to a free author event with David Malouf on Thursday 27 August 2009 at 6.00 for 6.30pm.

Venue: Union Hall, University of Adelaide

David MaloufRansom David Malouf's new novel Ransom engages with enduring questions posed by the ancient Greeks, in particular with Homer's Iliad and the relationships of King Priam and Achilles and of Hector and Patroclus. Malouf will consider Ransom with reference to the development of his work as a whole, including the now classic titles An Imaginary Life, Johnno and Remembering Babylon, as well as the autobiographical 12 Edmonstone Street and his short story collection Every Move you Make.

Malouf has won numerous prizes for his work, including the Miles Franklin Award in 1990 for The Great World, while his Remembering Babylon was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1994.

In 1998 he gave the Boyer Lecture, published as A Spirit of Play. His readers have also recently enjoyed his short literary essay On Experience.

This event is supported by a strategic grant from the Development & Alumni Office to enhance the community engagement of the University of Adelaide.
