1940 Britain: from phoney war, to finest hour, to where?
The Friends of the University of Adelaide Library invite you to a free public talk with Emeritus Professor Trevor Wilson.
Thursday 13 September 2007 at 1.05pm
Ira Raymond Exhibition Room, Barr Smith Library, University of Adelaide
Trevor Wilson, Emeritus Professor of History, was appointed an Honorary Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia in 2007 for his services to education through teaching, writing and historical research in the area of military history of Word War I.
His revolutionary work The Myriad Faces of War (1986) examined in a new way, from a vast range of sources, not only the battle front but the impact of World War I on all aspects of the British nation. Professor Wilson's subsequent books, co-authored with Professor Robin Prior, include The Somme (2005), Passchendaele (1996), The First World War (1999), and Command on the Western Front 1914-1918 (1992).
In further collaboration with Robin Prior, Trevor Wilson is now focusing his research on the Second World War and will be sharing his always stimulating thinking with a fresh examination of the situation in 1940.
