Photocopying and printing in the Library
Printing
Your University funded printing quota can be used in the Barr Smith Library from the following student computer suites to printers in those areas:
- 24 hour computer suite
- level 3 north
- level 3 south
- level 2 north
- level 1 north.
The Law Library computer suite also prints using the print quota.
All library photocopiers and the level 3 colour printer require a Copy Card account.
Getting started with Copy Card
The first step is to set up your University of Adelaide ID Card or buy a Copy Card. To buy a card ($1) follow the instructions located on top of the Copy Card machine.
You need credit in your account to be able to make copies - add credit using the Copy Card machine.
Register your card at the account registration workstation.
Add a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to your card. The PIN will protect the credit balance on you card. You'll need to enter your PIN whenever you use a printer or photocopier. A PIN must be a minimum of four, maximum of eight numbers (no letters) - don't start with 0 [zero].
Problems
If you have lost your ID Card, have forgotten your PIN or get a message Card not found or Card locked, please ask for help at the Service Enquiries desk.

Making a photocopy
Most photocopiers in the University of Adelaide libraries are Canon machines. They will make black-and-white or colour copies on A4 or A3 (double A4 size) paper, and will produce same-size, enlarged or reduced copies. The Canon copiers will also make double-sided copies. A Ricoh photocopier will make A4 overhead transparencies from black and white originals, or A3 black and white paper copies. It is located adjacent to the main stairs opposite the lift on Level 3 South.
Detailed instructions are available for the Canon machines:
