sixth talk in the University of Adelaide's Research Tuesdays
seminar series was held on Tuesday, 11 September.
Since 2005, Tanya Monro has been Professor of Photonics and
Director of the Centre of Expertise in Photonics within the
School of Chemistry & Physics at the University of Adelaide.
Title: Optical fibres: our future beyond
telecommunications

Synopsis: In this lecture, Professor Tanya
Monro will discuss the opportunities for Australia in emerging
optical fibre-based technologies.
The Centre of Expertise in Photonics is a joint venture between
the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and
the University of Adelaide, with support from the Government
of South Australia.
Before coming to Adelaide, Tanya Monro led a research team
at the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of
Southampton in the UK.
The research of Professor Monro and her team centres
on developing new classes of optical fibres for applications
beyond optical data transmission. She has published more than
200 papers in this and related fields, and is a member of the
SA Premier's Science and Research Council.
