MBBS 3rd Year Research Proposals -- visiting the MLC

In 2013, the MLC will provide specific appointment times to discuss research proposals with MBBS 3rd Year students. At these appointments, students will talk with a staff member about their research proposal, and the staff member will give advice on the appropriate statistical methods, as well as answer general questions about statistics.

Making an appointment

1. Scroll down to see the timetable of available spots. Note that the timetable is updated at about 9am each weekday morning, so some spots may have already been taken. 
2. Choose several times you might be able to come. NOTE: if you cannot come at the available times on the timetable, SEND AN EMAIL ANYWAY with several options for when you want to meet. WE WILL TRY TO FIT YOU IN.
3. Download the "MLC statistics meeting preparation" document (available in both Word and PDF format) and fill in as much detail as you can. If there's anything you're not sure on, don't stress, just do your best.
   This will help you to think about your statistics, and when you send it to us, will help us to prepare for the appointment.
4. Send an email to mathslearning@adelaide.edu.au: Use the title "MBBS Research Proposal Appointment". Attach a copy of your "MLC statistics meeting preparation" document to this email or include as much as you can of the same information in the body of the email.
   We recommend contacting us at least two full working days before your desired appointment time since unfortunately we cannot guarantee a response in less than 48 hours.
5. The MLC staff will get back to you as soon as possible with an appropriate time to meet and will tell you which staff member you will be meeting.

Coming to your appoinment

You will meet the MLC staff member in the MLC room in Hub Central. To find out how to get there, go to the MLC location page.

When you get there, one or two talbes will be clearly marked as being for Research Proposal appointments. A staff member will be waiting for you at one of these tables.

The appointment generally takes between half an hour and 45 minutes, depending on the complexity of the project and the statistics associated with it.

We recommend that all group members attend, so that you can all seek to understand the statistics together. Also, please bring your copy of the preparation document with you, as well as any other information you think might be helpful.
