MLC Resources for STATISTICAL PRACTICE I
This page contains various resources for the University of Adelaide course "Statistical Practice I". To find out more about this course, please search for it on the Course Information website.
Maths Notation
Statistical Practice I uses some mathematical notation at various points of the course. The MLC seminar on maths notation may help you to understand what it means. Click on the link below to go to the seminar page where you can watch the video, and download a pdf of the slides which list the meanings of common notations.
Equations and formulas
At some points in the Stat Prac I course, you will have to solve equations. In particular you will need to use linear equations for the line of best fit in a graph. The following short book in PDF form give information about linear equations and how to work with them:

Study seminar
Below is information from the study seminar given to Statistical Practice I students in Semester 1 2012. I talked about how to respond to exam questions concerning hypothesis tests, how to decide between paired and unpaired t-tests, the sorts of things I would put on a "cheat sheet" for Stat Prac I, and also how I decide what stats procedure goes with what situation. (Note that I have not necessarily covered every detail of the topics mentioned -- it is your responsibility to make sure you study comprehensively.)
