Summer Scholarships 2012 -2013

There are several organisations currently accepting applications for summer vacation scholarships that can support students in our School and/or affiliated institutions.

These scholarships are offered to undergraduate students and provide opportunities to participate in research projects within the University, Hospitals, IMVS and other affiliated institutions. Projects are carried out over the summer vacation for a period of approximately 6 weeks.

Successful applicants will be paid between $150-$200 per week for the duration of the scholarship. Any such scholarship offered to a student who will work in a laboratory within the School of Molecular & Biomedical Science or an affiliate laboratory will be topped up to the School rate of $250 per week for 6 weeks. eResearch SA Summer Scholarships

eResearch SA will be offering up to 10 summer scholarships for students to undertake eResearch projects that utilise advanced information and communication technologies (ICTs) to support research.
Scholarships are available for a period of up to 8 weeks during the summer vacation (November–February)

Adelaide Summer Research Scholarships

Up to 60 Summer Research Scholarships are available at the University of Adelaide in 2012-2013. The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage undergraduate students to consider undertaking postgraduate study at the University of Adelaide leading to a career involving research.

Further information about the SMBS Summer Research Scholarships

The School of Molecular and Biomedical Sciences (SMBS) offers Summer Research Scholarships to be taken up in the Disciplines of Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology & Immunology. These scholarships are valued at $250 per week for a 6 week period of study, to be taken up over the summer break. 

Separate scholarships are available for University of Adelaide students and students from other institutions. For University of Adelaide students, preference for SMBS Scholarships will be given to students who are currently enrolled in second year in the Discipline to which they are applying.

Students who have held SMBS Summer Scholarships previously will not be eligible although they can still apply for the Adelaide Summer Research Scholarships for research to be carried out in any of the laboratories listed above. International students must show a current visa allowing work in Australia.

Students can apply for several scholarships, including the University of Adelaide vacation scholarship and the SMBS Summer Scholarship, but may only hold one if successful.
