History

The School of Molecular and Biomedical Science 'Research Career Development Network' (RCDN) was established by a dedicated group of early career researchers within the school in 2004. Our aim is to promote communication between the early career researchers and predominantly research focussed members of MBS and provide a forum for discussion of career development strategies. Since our establishment, we have held a number of highly successful workshops and seminars. We have also succeeded in establishing funding for strategies that address our goals.

Goals:

  • To increase the number of independently funded research fellows within the School.
  • To assist research only staff in gaining an independent research program.

Funding Achievments:

  • Travel support: funding of career researchers to attend international conferences that are held either internationally or within Australia.
  • Staff development: funding to attend courses/workshops run by the University or other organisations examples include courses on microscopy and use of model organisms.
