Structural Biology and Drug Design

The University of Adelaide Australia

Welcome to the Booker Laboratory

We use our knowledge of the 3-dimensional structures of proteins to understand their biological function and to provide biotechnology applicaitons.

We mostly use NMR methods to determine protein structures and to understand the molecular basis of protein-ligand interactions. This is then combined with a range of biological and biochemical assays to enable us to interrogate the functions of the target proteins. Structure-based drug design is a major focus, with the aim of identifying novel chemical ligands that can be used to study protein function or ultimately provide new therapeutic agents.
