Procedures For Using MLS 3rd Floor PC 2 Area

In this facility all guidelines, set out in the PC2 Lab Manual, apply plus the following:

This PC2 facility consists of rooms 3.13 to 3.20, 3.29, 3.33 & 3.34. It also includes the corridors that connect them. The three bounding doors have OGTR PC2 and biohazard signs. These doors are to remain closed when any work is in progress in the PC2 facility.

This area can only be used by authorised persons; authorised persons are:

• All MBS staff and students trained in PC2 level GMO, pathogenic microorganism procedures and have read this document; and are recorded as such by the University IBC and in the School's Training Needs Analysis.

Non PC2 Areas

• In this PC facility, rooms 3.13, 3.15, 3.17, 3.39 & 3.34 are restricted to PC1 level GMOs and 3.18 & 3.19 to zero GMOs.
• All rooms restricted to PC1 are labeled "No PC2 GMOs".
• Persons only using room 3.19, to collect Tissue Culture media and culture vessels for use elsewhere, may use non PC procedures.
• Persons entering these rooms directly from a non PC or PC1 area and moving only between these rooms may follow PC1 level precautions.
• Persons who have been using the PC2 rooms of this area will wash their hands and remove their PC2 gowns before entering the non PC2 areas.
