  • Advertising

We can help you maximise the return from your investment in the advertising channels commonly used by the University.

    Planning and Booking Advertising

The University's Advertising Guide will help you plan and book your advertising media. It covers two types of advertising:

Note: The process for brand/marketing advertising is different to functional advertising, so please read the Advertising Guide before getting started.

    Brand and Marketing Advertising

Brand and marketing advertising is designed to promote the brand or sell a product or service.

MEC Link to external website manages all of the University's brand and marketing advertising media bookings. To get started, please follow the steps below:

Complete the MEC Client Registration Form to ensure MEC have you set up on the master University account.

Use the MEC Media Briefing Form to prepare and supply your media brief to MEC (include your target audience, any preferred channels and indicative budget)

Review and finlaise the media schedule

See the Creative Development & Approval Process for guidance on how to approach and brief in requirements for advertising artwork.

Complete the Creative services briefing sheet to submit your creative request to us, if you want us to manage the development of your advertising artwork (include file specifications from the publisher, copy and image direction)

Follow the Artwork Dispatch Process and MEC Material Instruction Form to send your final artwork to the publisher.

See the Landing Page Optimisation Guide for guidance on the creation of landing pages in support of your advertising strategy.

For more information, see the Advertising Guide.

    Functional Advertising

Functional advertising is used to provide basic information, usually as text. An example could be a notice of a public lecture.

All functional advertising should be booked directly with Starcom Link to external website. To get started, please follow the steps below:

Draft text in a Word document only (do not design layout) and supply logo (JPEG file) to Starcom account manager (see Advertising Guide).

Call Starcom on 08 8291 0007 to discuss size and budget requirements, then complete a booking order form from Starcom. The form should include instructions to build the advertisement in either one of the DECS templates or create a new layout.*

Starcom to supply a cost estimate and advertisement proof for approval.

A quote will be provided that will show the combined cost of the media booking and production of your advertisement.

Approve the Starcom cost estimate to finalise the booking and approve the advertisement proof for production.

Starcom will confirm your booking with the media and provide a copy of the final advertisement to the press.

The advertisement is published in the press.

For more information, see the Advertising Guide.

    Advertising Channels

The main advertising channels used by the University are print media, digital and social media, search and University-owned channels.

  • Merchandise

Merchandise is an important branding tool. When used well, it creates a strong brand presence and can be used to drive action.

You may choose from the University's corporate merchandise range or develop merchandise that is customised for a particular purpose and business objective.

The Merchandise guide can help you to select and develop effective merchandise.

Approval for Developing your own Merchandise

Marketing & Communications must approve the design of all promotional merchandise before it is printed. We can review design files delivered via email, however generally will require print samples before final approval for production can be given. Please ensure you refer to the Merchandise guide, the University's Brand Standards and the Creative development & approval process for more information.

You can request the production of new merchandise through the Marketing & Communications team by completing the Customised merchandise order form.
